Academic Excellence
Languages: Maintaining breadth of World Language Department offerings makes high level language classes available for students: AP French Language, AP French Lit, AP Latin and Latin 4, German 3 and 4

Writing Skills: Funding for readers means English and Social Studies teachers can assign long essays more often

English: Professional development release time allows 7 English teachers (all levels) to attend a conference on expository reading and writing

Math: Summer Calculus and year-round competitions boost student progress

Science: iBooks and equipment for Chemistry labs allow students to collect and analyze data more effectively; funding makes it possible to start a new Environmental Chemistry Class for Computer Academy

Reading Support: Software and an instructional aide assists students to become proficient in reading

ESL: Students learning English benefit from the help of an instructional aide

Translation: Written translation of monthly communications and oral translation of school meetings are provided to M-A’s Spanish-speaking families

College & Career Preparation
Guidance: A critical fifth guidance advisor is on staff to assist students and families

College and Career Center: M-A’s College Information specialist’s overtime is paid and an assistant is provided to help with Career Center work

SAT Prep: SAT reasoning test and subject exam classes prepare students for SAT testing

The Arts: Visual arts classes purchase supplies, Drama Department has props and supplies for plays, and Web Design course enjoys the latest software for web design

Technology
Computers: New computers (and software above) in the multimedia lab ensure that students are able to learn and design the latest in websites

Faculty & Staff Awards
Teaching and Classified Staff: Annual awards acknowledge outstanding achievement of M-A teachers and staff

Impact: Monthly awards allow faculty to recognize each others’ campus-wide contributions

New Teachers: Grants aide new teachers in the purchase of supplies for their classroom

Student Community Development
Dean of Students: Dean frees up valuable Administrative Vice Principals time and provides more one-on-one interface with students

Newcomers Program: Program designed to welcome and assist students who have just arrived in the U.S. to get them off to a good start at M-A
